Day Sixteen

I checked Mount Bonnell in Austin and dashed into a run against time to pass 1000 km to El Paso. I would have won the run if it wasn't for this annoying Texas cop who gave me a speeding ticket around Ozona, Tx. Where? Yeah right, in the middle of nowhere.

Texas ranger: This is how you hurt yourself.
Martin (thinking): This is how you hurt myself with $200.

Boy, I hate cops. I've never seen any help from them about crimes against me but tickets.

This little accident apart, El Paso was a blast. Couchsurfing rocks. I tried it for the first time with Ludvig. He is from Mexico and studies graphic design in El Paso. Met his lovely sister Isis and friends, party until 5am, scenic driveway at night, a tour of the city on the following day.

Excelente mis amigos!

if you're driving 120+ kph on a highway in the middle of nowhere with a speed limit of 90+ kph while you're talking to your girlfriend on the phone, the possibility of getting caught by cops is greatly increased.

two words: be.careful.

It's pretty much an empty road through the desert. You can't really tell how fast you are moving.

that's why cars have speedometers :)
